Day 1 : Arrival Kochi (previously known as Cochin)
You are greeted on arrival at the Kochi international airport / railway station
and transfer to pre-booked hotel. Afternoon, Cochin sightseeing by luxury boat,
visiting the Jewish Synagogue in Mattancherry, Cochin, is the oldest Synagogue
of India. Dutch palace, One of the oldest buildings in Cochin, the Dutch palace
is a beautiful structure built in oriental style of architecture, Chinese Fishing
nets, St. Francis Church etc. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 2 : Kochi - Athirampally & Vazhachal - Guruvayoor
Approx 130 kms / 3 hrs drive
After breakfast, proceed to Vazhachal water falls, a tranquil and much needed
escape from the troubles and stress of life. Later proceed to Guruvayoor.
On arrival transfer to hotel. Later visit to 'Elephant Sanctuary' (Punnathur
Kotta), Mural Painting, Kudakallu etc. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 3 : Guruvayoor - Munnar
Approx 140 kms / 4 hrs drive
Early morning visit Sree Krishna temple (non Hindus are not allowed inside
the temple). After breakfast, proceed to Munnar. Upon arrival, check in to
hotel by noon. Afternoon visit tea plantations. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 4 : Munnar
After breakfast spend the entire day at Munnar, visiting Pothamedu for an
excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar, Devikulam
- This idyllic hill station with its velvet lawns, exotic flora and fauna
and the cool mountain air is a rare experience. The Sita Devi Lake with its
mineral waters and picturesque surroundings is a good picnic spot. Pallivasal,
Attukal, A panorama of waterfalls and rolling hills, Attukal, Mattupetty,
it is famous for its highly specialized dairy farm, the Indo-swiss live stock
project. The Mattupetty Lake and dam, just a short distance from the farm,
is a very beautiful picnic spot. Echo-Point etc. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 5 : Munnar - Thekkady(Also known as Periyar)
Approx. 120 kms / 3 ½ hrs. drive
Morning drive to Thekkedy. Spend the entire day at Thekkady, visiting Periyar
Wildlife Sanctuary, Murikady, Pandikuzhy etc. Boating through Periyar lake will
be ever-memorable one. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 6 : Thekkady
Morning visit the park again. Afternoon visit the spice plantations. Evening
free for leisure. Overnight a thotel.
Day 7 : Thekkady - Kumarakom
Approx 120 kms / 3 ½ hrs drive
Early morning, depart to Kumarakom, is famous for its Bird Sanctuary situated
on the Lake of Vembanand. Visit Kumarakom bird sanctuary, this bird sanctuary
covers an area of around 101 acres of land full of woods and the lake, which
attracts various kinds of birds here. Check in to your hotel. Overnight stay
at hotel.
Day 8 : Kumarakom - board Houseboat
After breakfast check in to 'house boat'. Proceed to Alleppey through paddy
fields, coconut lagoons, narrow canals and coir villages. A rare chance to
see pepper, coffee, cashew nut, coco, pineapple, nut mug etc. Watch birds
like kingfisher, wood peeker, drongo, egrets, bee-caters, etc. Overnight stay
at houseboat.
Day 9 : Alleppey - Kovalam
175 kms / 4 hrs drive
Disembark from the houseboat at Alleppey and depart to Kovalam visiting Trivandrum
enroute. Trivandrum is the capital of Modern Kerala and the seat of erstwhile
Travancore Maharaja. Visit the Art Gallery, Padmanabha Swami Temple and Museum.
Day 10 : Kovalam
Full day free to relax on the beach. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 11 : Kovalam - Kanyakumari
74 kms / 1 ½ hrs drive
Morning drive to Kanyakumari enroute visiting Padmanabhapuram Palace. Visit
Vivekananda Rock, on the seaside is built a large, beautiful memorial dedicated
to the Indian philosopher, Swami Vivekananda. Kanyakumari temple, this temple
is dedicated to Parvathi as Devi Kanya- the Virgin Goddess who did penance
to obtain the hand of Lord Siva. Gandhi Memorial Built in memory of Gandhiji,
the memorial is a good example of modern architecture. Evening watch spectacular
sunset. Overnight at hotel
Day 12 : Kanyakumari - Trivandrum / Out
Approx 90 kms / 2 hrs drive
Morning watch sunrise. Later drive to Trivandrum international airport to
connect flight for onward destination.
